Nando’s Courtenay Place NZ

How does one retain character of the heritage listed building whilst at the same time incorporating the new Africa aesthetic into the look and feel.

Secondly resolution of a very long, deep and narrow restaurants where for diagrammatic reasons, some dining zones will be removed from natural light and more intimate.

As many of the existing building elements were left such as the concrete block walling and ceiling structure to the above building. This due to fact that ceiling was very low and as much height as possible, needed to be achieved to get a volumetric feeling of space as you progress through the restaurant.

The African artwork, colour palette of oranges, yellows and greens fuses the space together and variousĀ  pieces such as light fittings, condiments wall finishes etc are made in South Africa and destined to become conversation pieces.

In all, a very pleasing result to an elongated and difficult floor plan.

  • Area approx. 350 sqm with 120 seats
  • Colour palette of oranges, yellows and greens
  • African artwork & light fittings
